Take a trip to the land of daffodils and dragons. Wales is a beautiful place for a caravanning holiday. An easy drive in the caravan or motorhome just over the boarder, Wales is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain, bordered by England to its east and the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea to its west.
Although Wales shares a close political and social history with the rest of Great Britain, and almost everyone speaks English, making it very easy for caravanners to communicate, the country has retained a distinct cultural identity and is officially bilingual with road signs in Welsh and English. Unless you can read Welsh make sure you follow the right signs otherwise you might end up in Aberystwyth rather than Pembrokeshire.
The Welsh landscape is renowned for its picturesque caravanning and camping sites but also for its rolling hills, mountainous peaks include Snowden, agriculture and farmland – it is a common site to see sheep roaming the greenery. Caravanners can explore the country’s heritage like Cardiff Castle and Caerphilly Castle. The Gower Peninsula in South Wales is another popular destination for caravan holiday makers and is a designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Brecon Beacons, the Wye Valley, Snowdonia and Cardigan Bay Coast are other popular spots for camping, setting up your caravan base and exploring.
The sport of Rugby is seen as a National Sport and part of the Welsh identity. During the Six Nation’s Rugby, caravanners can expect the country side to much quieter than usual, and instead caravan holiday makers hear booming crowds cheering there Nation on at the Millennium Stadium and find the local pubs brimming with eager eyed supporters.
