Set in the heart of the beautiful County Durham countryside, the park lies within a meander of the River Wear and overlooks the ruins of a Benedictine Priory. The peace and tranquillity of the Adult Only Touring Park encourages visitors from all over the world to return time and again and is one of the North East premier residential parks. Well behaved pets are welcome onto the park both as visitors and residents, dogs must be kept on a lead while on the park.

The park is ideally situated for visiting all of Co Durham's high lights, being less than an hours drive from Sea, Dales, Moor lands, Towns and Cities and only four miles from the historic city of Durham. Please see the Local Information section for more details.

Although we no longer accept tents onto the park we do for large local events. We are currently accepting tents for the concerts of Coldplay (7th June 2012) and Bruce Springsteen (21st June 2012). If there is demand we’ll organize a bus for these events.

The ruins of Finchale have stood in the meander of the river Wear for hundreds of years and the surrounding scenery and picturesque sights and views make the caravan park, which overlooks the Abbey quite unique.

We have been awarded a Silver David Bellamy Conservation award in recognition that the park is managed in a responsible and sustainable way, meeting stringent criteria with regard to saving water and energy, recycling, eco-friendly landscaping, promoting local transport and protecting wildlife and flowers. To further develop the wildflowers and support the wildlife on our park we have developed a wildflower dog walking area. As well as promoting wildlife we hope this area will become a favourite with dog walkers to enjoy a stroll and take in some lovely fresh country air although we’d like to encourage all of our dog owners to act responsibly, keep all dogs on a lead and clean up after their dogs and dispose of any mess accordingly in bins provided. New for 2011 we’ve planted an orchard of apple trees adjacent to the dog walking area and will be adding some beehives over the coming months.
