Barn Farm is a campsite located close to the Derbyshire Dales towns of Matlock and Bakewell making it a perfect location for tourists. Barn Farm's buildings date back to the 1500's overlooking the beautiful Derwent Valley. The farm is a haven for wildlife including Badgers and rare Black Fallow Deer. It boasts over 60 species of birds such as Nuthatch, Dippers and Peregrine Falcons. Located 7 miles south of the historic market town of Bakewell and 3 miles west of Matlock, Barn Farm is ideally situated to access the diverse array of local attractions. The Limestone Way passes close by the farm, which is situated on the junction of no less than 4 major footpaths throughout the area. Bordering the farm is the mystical Stanton Moor with its ancient 'Nine Lades' stone circle. A little farther the River Lathkill provides the focus of a pleasant walk through the Lathkill Dale. Robin Hood's Stride and Catcliffe Rocks are just 2 of the local climbing areas. There are many excellent sports facilities within the region such as fishing, riding and watersports.
Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by. Matlock Bath boasts the children's attraction 'Gullivers Kingdom' and a cable car to the Heights of Abraham. There is also the Derbyshire Wildlife's Whistlestop Centre and Mining Museum. Birchover has 2 pubs which serve food. The 'Red Lion' is to be found on the main street and the famous 'Druid Inn' is located at the bottom of the village, with the 'Hermit's Cave' on the hill behind. Directions Being located between Bakewell and Matlock, Barn farm is extremely accesible by the A6 and then taking the B5056. Please do not, under any circumstances, try and approach the campsite via Stanton Lees in any large vehicle. The road is very steep and narrow and is most unsuitable. Please use the B5056 as above. We are at the very top of the village on the right hand side.
