Yes, I know a few people who buy a propane bottle (and regulator) when abroad, how long are you going for? We have never used a complete 7k bottle even with a family of 4 away for a month. One brand over there is Totalgaz (I think)

Thanks for that i must admit that we have never had a problem but we now store the caravan in france i am not sure of the policy of taking loose bottles on ferries and through the tunnel !

If you're keeping the van in France, then you may be better off buying a continental brand, in my experience they are sold all over, including supermarket filling stations. Check out which regulator and connector you will need.

think what has been said is right, I work for an LPG company & the ones in UK will not be able to be swapped/filled in Europe so I would get one out there. The only ones available ALL over Europe & UK is Camping Gaz, but the cylinders are not big enough for a caravan, the biggest being only 2.72Kg!
