What is the current VAT rate I should be charged on a Second Hand Caravan?

Can you please advise me the rate of VAT to be charged on a second
hand static caravan. Should VAT be charged on the site owners commission.

i wouldnt think you would pay vat, you dont on a second hand car but maybe im wrong

There should be no VAT buying second hand. I'm sure Trading Standards would like to know if you're being charged this!

Agree with the last 2 answers, you shouldn't be charged VAT on second hand caravans, if a dealer tries to charge you ask for their VAT registration number and check their credentials with the Inland Revenue, they may be trying to fleece some extra cash out of you, or alternatively just steer clear and find a dealer that doesn't charge VAT.

Hi
There is VAT payable on secondhand cars and caravans but it is included in the price.
It is the VAT on the profit being made, e.g. bought in by the dealer for £1000 and then sold at £1600 the VAT element is £100. Calculated as 20% on the profit of £500. That's it in simple terms.
