The Scottish Borders hold many beautiful scenes for the eye to see from vast moorlands, to rich green forests to picturesque valleys. Rich in history its Churches, Cathedrals, and Abbeys of Melrose, Tedburgh, Kelso and Dryburgh will keep a caravanner with a love for heritage and architecture engrossed. Ruins resulting from the Scottish wars of Independence are also a highlight and great example of a piece of Scottish history, this again would be a perfect excursion for the history buffs amongst the caravan community.

For a more active holiday you can leave your caravan site to go horse riding or take a stroll through woodlands such as Cragbank Wood. Nature lovers will also enjoy the wildlife watches in Glentrees Peel in Peebles, which can also be enjoyed via the mountain bike trails if you would rather take your bike than pack your walking boots. However you decide to enjoy it, the surrounding areas are accessible whether you rely on your feet, horse or bike to take you there.

If golf is more your thing there are numerous courses that each offer a fabulous setting for you to get a hole in one so be sure to bring your clubs with you.  Many caravan owners will also be surprised to see that in such a Northern rural area you can access an award winning beach from your caravan site; Caldingham Sands is popular with those who have a love for the seaside.

The Scottish borders are also a base for the craft and textile industries with a history that dates back to the thirteenth century. As well as local carpentry and glass, caravanners can also sample fine materials such as tartan, tweed, wool and cashmere. The Borders Textile Towerhouse is a restored building that is an interesting day out for those intrigued by the local history surrounding these materials.
