The county of Leicestershire is packed with award-winning attractions, fascinating museums and a variety of different caravanning sites for all the family to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a basic caravanning site, or a caravan site with swimming pools and facilities galore Leicestershire has what you are looking for!
Take a walk through time (remember to take your wellies, it can get pretty muddy) and visit the Bosworth Battlefield where King Richard III died – get into character at the Battle of Bosworth Museum by shooting a longbow and trying on the different styles of armour and create your own shield crest for the wall of the caravan.
One of the country's boldest environmental projects is also in the heart of Leicestershire. The National Forest is attempting to blend ancient woodland with new plantings to create a new national forest maturing over 200 square miles. At the centre of the National Forest visitors will find Conkers, a visitor centre located just outside the village of Moira. Conkers is the perfect place for caravanning children; there is a balance of indoor and outdoor activities so you can visit rain or shine with an Enchanted Forest Adventure play zone, simulated tree top canopy walk, interactive exhibits, and cafes for the parents.
Have a go at monkeying around at Twycross Zoo where you will see one of the worlds largest primate collections, just don’t try hanging from the ceiling of the tent – I can tell you in advance that the tent or even the caravan isn’t as strong as the monkey bars you’ll find at Twinlakes Park or Wistow Maze. Lastly change your mode of transport from caravan to space craft as you venture into outer space at the National Space Centre that houses real rockets and interactive challenges.
