Caravan Sites, Caravan Parks and Campsites in Oxfordshire

Full of character and life, Oxfordshire is an exciting, buzzing county with heaps to do and is a great place for a holiday in a caravan, tent or motorhome. There’s something that appeals to everyone in this 10th century county.

Glide in a punt along the Thames, getting a taste for local life whilst watching the world go by or go for tea and scones in the local settlements of Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, Didcot and Chipping Norton. These areas all offer good local grub, boutique shops, antiques, picturesque caravan sites and an abundance of wildlife.

Oxfordshire also offers an insight to maybe Britain’s most famous Prime Minister Winston Churchill, as it is his birth place. Blenheim Palace, built after the victory against the French and Bavarians at the Battle of Blenheim for the 1st Duke of Marlborough, still opens its doors to allow visitors to explore the childhood home of Winston Churchill. The gardens of the palace, designed by ‘Capability Brown’ also reflect the outcome of the battle as he planted the trees in the gardens to mirror the battle formation of the victorious troops – they might give you some ideas about how to arrange the plant pots in the caravan.

The ‘dreaming spires’ of the University of Oxford are also famed in the city, and perhaps add to the mystery of the city that make Oxford being the sixth most visited city in the United Kingdom by international visitors (caravanners can mingle the diverse tourists to the city). That and the fact that the University’s places are one of the most sought after in the world, with Prime Minister David Cameron, Tony Blair, news reader Fiona Bruce, playwright Alan Bennett and the legendary Stephen Hawkins all being previous alumni.

Other attractions in this area also include Abingdon County Hall Museum, Banbury Museum, Broughton Castle , Charlbury Museum, Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, Cogges Manor Farm Museum, Witney , Didcot Railway Centre, Hook Norton Brewery, Kelmscott Manor, Oxford Bus Museum and Morris Motors Museum and the Thame Museum.
