Greater London provides an opportunity for caravanners to explore England’s capital and take in all of the city sights and sounds that it has to offer. With the Tube, trains and buses you will save on fuel and will easily explore this area as you leave your caravan site or holiday park.
You will be spoilt for choice on which famous attraction to visit; from the waxworks at Madame Tussauds, to the fine artwork of the Tate Modern and a sneak peak of Downing Street. Caravanners can also take a stroll and see famous buildings such as the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben; a fine example of British architecture. Historians of the group will also enjoy a visit to Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s Cathedral, or perhaps you wish to see how the royalty live and see Buckingham Palace a sight not to be missed!
To take in the whole of Greater London you can also take a ride on the London Eye an experience in itself with priceless views. Or if you just want to indulge in some retail therapy Greater London is not short of favourite high street shops and famous department stores.
Caravanners can take a step back in time and enter the Tower of London where you can see not only the priceless crown jewels, but also where prisoners were tortured and spent their days, as well as the royal menagerie where exotic creatures were kept such as ostriches and tigers. It is also worth leaving the caravan to see the Famous Tower Bridge to see the Victorian engine rooms and early examples of machinery; stroll the high level walkways whilst taking in the panoramic views of London, and its exhibits.
Free exhibits can be found in the British Museum where historic wonders can be discovered and it won’t cost you a penny. Caravanners can also enjoy free entry at the Natural History Museum where you can learn about deep sea creatures and dinosaurs. If you would like to stay outside in the elements take a look around the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, home to various types of gardens with many collections and even structures
