Caravan Sites, Caravan Parks and Campsites in Northamptonshire

If you enjoy the relaxation of country parks, quiet camp sites and well maintained caravan pitches, then Northamptonshire is where you should be towing your caravan for your next holiday as is home to a variety of different caravan and camping sites, all with their own unique personalities – one of the reasons it is so popular for camping and caravanning. Caravanning in this area has been popular for a long time with the oldest park in the county opening in 1971 Irchester, in what was originally an ironstone quarry.

However Northamptonshire is known for more than just its caravan sites. The area is probably most well known for the major motor racing circuit it houses – Silverstone, most notably used for the British Grand Prix. Straddling the villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury, the Silverstone circuit unites a love of motors and craftsmanship, a brilliant combination for caravanners. Alternatively if you are just visiting the area for the Grand Prix, if the hotels are full you could always rent a static caravan or holiday chalet.

Home to large towns including Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden and Daventry, caravanners looking for a more peaceful time should visit the North East of Northamptonshire, as Rockingham Forest, which covers some 200 square miles, is nestled between the Rivers Welland and Nene. Here in the village of Rockingham itself, you will find Rockingham Castle, built for William the Conqueror almost 1,000 years ago, a building that has been in the same family for the last 450 years – do you think your family will be holiday in caravans in 450 years time?? A little further on caravanners can visit the towns of Stamford and Kettering, and the market towns of Oundle and Thrapston.

Within Northamptonshire caravanners and campers will also find designated areas of natural beauty such as Barnwell Country Park, Brampton Valley Way, Daventry Country Park and Summer Leys nature reserve, and if visiting country houses and estates feeds your imagination why not visit Althorp, Barnwell Manor, Canons Ashby House, Deene Park or Rockingham Castle.
