The North West of England is the perfect combination of beautiful rural landscape and inner city bustle, which makes it a brilliant place for a caravan holiday as there is something to interest and entertain everyone from grandparents to grandchildren in the regions of Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
For those caravanners interested in the countryside this area is home to three National parks, all of the Lake District, small parts of the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales as well as three areas of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (all of Arnside, Silverdale, the Solway Coast, and almost all of the Forest of Bowland). In the Lake District, famous not only for its lakes, forests, and mountains, you can see how poet William Wordsworth found his inspiration of many of his poems. This area is a solid favourite for campers, caravanners and motorhome owners and as such houses a variety of caravan and camping sites for all requirements.
Yet the area is also packed full of history and culture. Caravanners can visit the 2012 City Of Culture and home to the world famous Beatles (The Beatles Story experience) in Liverpool City Centre, as well as the football capital Manchester City Centre (visit Manchester United’s home ground Old Trafford and Manchester City’s home ground the Etihad Stadium). Caravanners and campers can also visit the Bridgewater Canal, the first recognised canal of the modern era, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway which was the world's first passenger inter-city railway in 1830. The University of Manchester built the world's first programmable computer, the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine, in 1948 and Calder Hall was the world's first nuclear power station in 1956 which are also in this region
