Full of character and life, Oxfordshire is an exciting, buzzing county with heaps to do and is a great place for a holiday in a caravan, tent or motorhome. There’s something that appeals to everyone in this 10th century county.
Glide in a punt along the Thames, getting a taste for local life whilst watching the world go by or go for tea and scones in the local settlements of Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, Didcot and Chipping Norton. These areas all offer good local grub, boutique shops, antiques, picturesque caravan sites and an abundance of wildlife.
Oxfordshire also offers an insight to maybe Britain’s most famous Prime Minister Winston Churchill, as it is his birth place. Blenheim Palace, built after the victory against the French and Bavarians at the Battle of Blenheim for the 1st Duke of Marlborough, still opens its doors to allow visitors to explore the childhood home of Winston Churchill. The gardens of the palace, designed by ‘Capability Brown’ also reflect the outcome of the battle as he planted the trees in the gardens to mirror the battle formation of the victorious troops – they might give you some ideas about how to arrange the plant pots in the caravan.
